Apparently (Wikipedia says), it's an English dessert. Your peanut version looks delicious and I will definitely making this in the near future. Banoffee pie, something my sister and I have a love affair with. Growing up in America with English parents we always had special desserts that none of our friends had heard of. Banoffee Pie is arguably one of the best British creations, that combines sweet, sliced fresh bananas and clouds of whipped cream that sits on top of a velvety toffee filling, cradled by a crunchy bed of cookie crust.
