The ingredients needed to cook Sambar Idli:
- Use 1/4 cup toor dal
- You need 1/4 cup moong dal
- Get 1 Chilli
- Use 2 tomato
- Use 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Take Salt as required
- Provide 1 pinch hing
- You need 1 big onion
- You need 1 tbsp tamarind puree
- You need 1 small piece jaggery
- Use 1/4 tsp mustard
- Use 1/4 tsp jeera
- Use 1 bunch curry leaves

- You need 1 tbsp Coconut oil
- Take 5 Idli
Instructions to make Sambar Idli:
- Chop tomatoes, green chillies and onions.
- Wash the toor dal, moong dal and add it to the cooker.
- Now add chopped green chillies and tomatoes.
- Then Add turmeric powder, hing, salt and water as needed and cook for two whistles.
- Once it is cooked, heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin and curry leaves.
- Then add chopped onions and saute well.
- Once the onion is sauted well, add the tamarind puree and jaggery and stir well. Then add the sambar powder and bring to a boil.
- Pour the boiled lentils into the pan and cook for 5 minutes in a medium heat.
- Place the idli in a serving vessel, pour the sambar on it and serve hot.
