The ingredients needed to cook Idali Sambar:
  1. Get For Idali batter
  2. Get 2 cups raw rice/ Idli Rava
  3. You need 1/2 cup whole urad daal
  4. Use 1 tbs fenugreek seeds
  5. Provide 1/4 cup poha
  6. Prepare Salt as per taste
  7. Provide For Sambar
  8. Provide 1 cup boiled toor daal
  9. Provide 1 cup steamed vegetables like:
  10. Get carrots, drumsticks, brinjal, ladies finger,beans of your choice
  11. Get 2 tbs tamarind pulp
  12. Provide 1 tbs Sambaar powder
  13. Use Salt as per taste
  14. Provide 1/2 tbs sugar/jaggery
  15. Take For tadaka
  16. Prepare 1 tbs oil
  17. Provide 1/2 tbs mustard seeds
  18. Prepare 1/2 jeera seeds
  19. Use 1 string curry leaves
  20. Take 2 red chillie
Steps to make Idali Sambar:
  1. For Idali : Take rice/Idali rava and daal in one bowl wash it and soak it for 5-6 hours add fenugreek seeds. Soak poha for 10 mins before grinding. After soaking, grind everything to smooth paste and keep it for fermentation for overnight. Next day Take a Idali stand apply oil and pour batter after adding salt. Steam it for 10-15 minutes and Idali is ready.
  2. For sambhar: keep a pot on medium flame add 1tbs oil, jeera and mustard seeds let it cracker add chopped vegetables stir for 1 minute. Add tamarind pulp and add water add little salt and cover with lid and let all vegetables cook. After 10 minutes add Sambaar powder of any brand and add cooked daal. Add sufficient water as per requirement consistency. Mix well and let it boil.
  3. For Tadaka: keep a Tadaka pan on medium flame add 1tbs oil add mustard and jeera seeds once oil is moderate hot add red chilies, urad daal and chana daal stir for few seconds add curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida and switch off the flame. Put the tadaks on sambar snd its ready to serve hot with idali.
