A lot of us have been taught to believe that comfort foods are terrible and should be avoided. At times, if the comfort food is candy or another junk food, this holds true. At times, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to eat. There are a number of foods that, when you eat them, can improve your mood. When you feel a little down and need an emotional boost, try a couple of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are terrific for helping you battle depression. Just see to it that you don’t throw away the egg yolk. Whenever you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolk particularly, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for elevating your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–run better. Try eating a few eggs to feel better!

Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you want to help your moods get better. Try some of these tips instead.

We hope you got insight from reading it, now let’s go back to ham & beans recipe. You can have ham & beans using 6 ingredients and 2 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Ham & Beans:
  1. Take 3 cans Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
  2. You need 1/2-1 lb cooked ham, diced (I like mine meaty)
  3. Provide 1 medium onion, diced
  4. Use 1/4 C light brown sugar (more might be needed if ham isn't sweet)
  5. Prepare 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  6. Take 1 Tbls dried parsley
Instructions to make Ham & Beans:
  1. In large pot add all the ingredients and enough water to cover. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 1.5 to 2 hours. Add more water if necessary during cooking time.
  2. Note: I usually cook my ham in the crockpot with brown sugar and pineapple juice and then use the leftovers for this soup, so if you are using store bought, pre-diced ham you will probably need more brown sugar. Just keep tasting it… that's half the fun of cooking!

Wring out excess water and place ham in the Ham Bag, pillowcase or wrap in tea towel. Store in coolest part of fridge. Re-soak bag in solution every few days or when Ham Bag dries out. Ham is a cut of meat taken from the back legs or sometimes the shoulders of a pig. It can be wet-cured, dry-cured, smoked, aged, or raw.
